Custom home renovations, when they’re sensitively done, achieve a perfect blend of modern aesthetics and traditional comfort. This three-bed townhouse was treated to a total renovation over three floors, which included some unique custom kitchen renovations to meet the owner’s preference for a traditional style. East Bay collaborated with the owners of this townhouse on all aspects of layout and design in order to achieve their vision. Tucked away at the back of the house, the existing kitchen had limited views. By removing some walls and opening up the space, you can now see from the back to the front and enjoy the gorgeous inner harbour water views. In this traditional kitchen design by Jason Good, there is a custom built stainless steel hood over the cooker, a herringbone tile backsplash, along with marble countertops on the work surfaces and the central island that also has space for dining. It was important to the owners and to us that we maintained the level of fine detail found in 100-year old Victorian homes. We took care over the interior millwork, and completed the door and window casings onsite to retain the traditional trim. We opened up the entry by removing some arched doorways to connect the living room to the front entry and create a lighter, more spacious setting. East Bay Developments helped the owners maximise a two-story opening situated above the dining table. They were able to realise their design ideas and install a light fixture in this dramatic space, we installed beams for support and designer styling. New floors throughout the property match the entirely new staircase, which also has custom treads and a wood banister in a traditionally elegant style. Three new bathroom designs included an en-suite to the master bedroom, which we finished with Travertine tile. Two new fireplaces now grace the property.
