The extensive custom home renovations made to this property involved major blasting work. As the house is perched on a rock bluff, this was necessary to make way for two new terraced levels that stepped down from the original 1914 country home.As well as creating exceptional, luxury office space, the owners wanted living accommodation for additional family members. We achieved this through the excellent design skills of KB Design. We retained the traditional styling of the much smaller existing house, adding a new living room wing to the main floor along with a rooftop deck surrounded by clear paneling that maximises the light and views while providing safety and security.A vaulted ceiling in the new living room wing adds height and a sense of space, which is further enhanced by large picture windows with deep solid cedar frames. These echo the styling of the mantel, designed by Ian Baker. The house benefits from in-floor radiant heating throughout. Externally, security lighting adds an elegant touch through its soft but bright illumination.Part of our overall philosophy is to get jobs finished as efficiently, quickly and tidily as possible so as not to cause too much disruption to the family. This approach served us all well during this whole home renovation as the family stayed in the house throughout, including during the blasting phases.
